2009 GM Signature Series Line
Thanks again for all the support over the years.
It took many months of experimentation with different designs and woods, but finally with the assistance of my good friend and pro artist Steven Miller in Maryland, I achieved what I think are my best pipes ever!!!
Click on the photos for a closer look.
Enjoy!
All pipes have a 3/4 inch inside bowl diameter and are at least 1 1/4 inch deep for a long sweet smoke!
GM SIGNATURE SERIES IN BOCOTE
Notice the sweeping lines and bold curves in this new style pipe. Not the usual thing you see in the pipe world. A cross between the traditional Danish Freehand style and a New Art inspiration, I like smoking them and so will you.
GM Signature Series pipes range from 5 1/2 inches long to a good sized 7 1/4 inches!
GM SIGNATURE SERIES IN ORANGE
Made of real California Orange wood, this pipe smokes cool and dry. Steven Miller's drawings and my affection for Sea Creatures come to life in this design.
GM SIGNATURE SERIES IN OAK
When good Oak is available, I will be producing this design in this great smoking wood. Supplies are limited at this time, but I am always searching for the perfect materials. The bowl is deeper than it looks. All Signature pipes have an inside bowl diameter of 3/4 inch and are at least 1 1/4 inch deep. A good 25-30 minute smoke.
GM SIGNATURE SERIES IN PURPLE HEART
I have made one of these New Art pipes in Purple Heart to test it's smokeability. After smoking this pipe for a month, I can tell you this is a great wood to craft pipes from. When I can find it again in a solid 2" thick piece without defects, I will be producing more of these. They look sweet!
GM SIGNATURE SERIES TRADITIONAL IN MAPLE
I have always been a big fan of the Danish school of pipe making. I have many of their free hand pipes in my own personal collection. This pipe reflects my respect and admiration of those European pioneers of pipes. I hope I do them justice.
GM SIGNATURE SERIES TRADITIONAL IN BOCOTE
I thought it time to try my hand at a traditional Billiard style pipe. I think it turned out OK. This pipe has already had 3 bidders before I could post it. When I am ready to let it go, I will make sure it gets a good home....hehehe!
GM PIPE TAMPERS IN VARIOUS HARDWOODS
It was time to add accessories to the GM line so I started making tampers this year. Note the angled foot for building a nice mound in the bowl for more complete combustion of your favorite tobacco. There are other fine tampers on line and in stores, but you will pay more than double for theirs. E-mail me for a quote and please specify the wood you would like it made from. In stock are Zebra, Walnut, Oak, Cherry, Eucalyptus, Cedar, Maple, Jarra and Poplar. Custom orders will be taken from June through December.
GM SIGNATURE SERIES SEMI-FREE HAND IN EUCALYPTUS
I made this pipe for myself to test and I have to tell you this one smokes as dry as it gets. It is a heavy, hard and difficult wood to work with, but I am adding this wood to the GM line this year because of it's excellent smoking qualities. Thanks to Adam Libretta in California (Founder of the political group R.I.G.H.T.E.O.U.S) for bringing this wood to my attention. We didn't know what the verdict would be at the time, but at this point, it is a GO!!!
GM SIGNATURE SERIES IN WALNUT
It has been a while since I worked with Walnut wood and almost forgot how great this wood is for pipes. If you purchase a pipe made of Walnut wood, my suggestion is to coat the inside of the bowl with honey the first and third time you smoke it. You will be pleased with the way honey assists in the buiding of the carbon cake in the bowl. Walnut wood seems to take a little longer to break in, but once it is seasoned, it delivers a very satisfying smoke.
GM SIGNATURE SERIES PRIMITIVE ART IN OAK
This pipe was made to look like an old primitive carving. Since fish are of interest to me, that was the direction I went with this pipe. Made of White Oak and stained dark red, I tried to make it look like an antique without going too far. Normally, stains and clear coats are not used on my pipes, but to age this piece I used oil stain and did not polish it.
